Film Review: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2 is the official fifteenth instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which continues to show no signs of slowing down as it rapidly expands.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 takes Marvel Superhero fans on another great adventure into the cosmos on the big screen. The film takes place a couple of months after the first film and takes audiences on a new adventure with the Guardians Of The Galaxy who are hired by a powerful alien race, the Sovereign, to protect their precious batteries from invaders. When it is discovered that Rocket has stolen the items they were sent to guard, the Sovereign dispatch their armada to search for vengeance. As the Guardians try to escape, the mystery of Peter’s parentage is revealed.

I must say that I personally really enjoyed Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2. I thought that the film was great and really delivered what I was expecting such as the crazy humour, awesome action sequences and more… the film definitely is a successor to its predecessor which was released in 2014.

The film’s plot was very interesting as it provided audiences with a knew experience because we got to go a little bit more deeper into the galaxy and explore not only a whole new different area in the MCU but also new and very different characters.

Kurt Russell is definitely one of Hollywood’s all time greats and I must say that I was extremely overwhelmed by his performance as Ego the living planet, it was the type of role which I have never seen him in before in any other film within his Hollywood career and I really think he did a great job in bringing a Marvel character like that to life on the big screen. He not only had a great chemistry with Christ Pratt but his presence had a good impact on the film and his acting style really made him unpredictable.

The film involved a lot of action with the Guardians constantly fighting against certain enemies which popped up within certain areas throughout the film. I think the humour was epic and played a big role within this film although I feel that it was dragging on a little bit in places where it wasn’t needed.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 brings back the old gang which are together and we get to see how the friendship between the Guardians as developed. We see Chris Pratt back as Peter Quill, Gamora who is the daughter of Thanos, played by Zoe Saldana, The mighty Drax, played by Dave Bautista,  Vin Diesel as Baby Groot, and Bradley Cooper voices Rocket Raccoon,  The cast were fantastic and they really did a brilliant job in not only bringing these iconic Marvel characters to life but also creating that connection with audiences and fans which was amazing.

Pom Klementieff was in my opinion, the highlight character of the film. I really liked the way in which she approached the role of Mantis, it was fantastic and her acting style really bought the character to life, establishing a brand new fan favourite.

I must admit that Marvel Studios and Director James Gunn have done a fabulous job in bringing the Guardians Of The Galaxy to life on the big screen. I remember when the first film was announced for Phase 2 and there were a lot of mixed reactions amongst fans and critics because many of them didn’t know who the Guardians were and had never heard of them before but when the film was released, many fans loved it and the film ended up being a big hit and immediately the Guardians became a fan favourite.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2 was a very explosive film, it involved a lot of great action sequences, crazy humour and amazing atmospheric scenes.

I really enjoyed watching Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2 and I thought it was a great film although I feel that the story which the film explored could have been better.

The cast was brilliant and I must give credit to Kurt Russel and Pom Klamentoff because they were both great as Ego and Mantis.
I have seen nearly every single Marvel film in cinemas whilst growing up but I have never seen anything as extraordinary as Guardians Of The Galaxy. Since Marvel Studios released the first film, we can truly setakes the superhero genre onto a whole new level because not only does it take place in space but it also explores a whole new world and place where superheroes exist which has never been done before.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2 was terrific and the new Awesome Mix was by far the best soundtrack I’ve heard yet so I’m going to give the film a 9/10.

I definitely recommend you go see Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2, it is a film which you will definitely enjoy.
